LL tie breakers

  1. Section Champion Tie Breakers

 

  1. In the event of a tie between two (2) teams, a one (1) game playoff will be played to determine the Section Champion. This game shall be played at a neutral site.

 

  1. In the event of a tie between three (3) teams, the following criteria will be used to determine playoff format for the Section Champion:

 

  1. Head to Head competition

 

  1. If one of the tied teams is undefeated or has a better head to head record than the other two teams, then they will receive a “bye” and will automatically advance to the Section Tie Breaker Championship Game.
    1. The other two (2) remaining teams will play in Section Tie Breaker Game #1.
    2. The winner will advance to the Section Tie Breaker Championship Game (Game #2). The loser will become the Section #3 seed.
  2. If two of the three teams have the same record head to head, then proceed to I.B.2.b. (District 3 Power Rating).
  3. If all three teams have the same record head to head, then proceed to I.B.2.a. (District 3 Power Rating).

 

  1. District 3 Power Rating

 

  1. The team with the highest District 3 Power Rating will receive a bye, and will automatically advance to the Section Tie Breaker Championship game.
  2. Teams with two (2) lowest District 3 Power Ratings will play in Section Tie-Breaker Game #1.
    1. Winner of Game #1 will play in the Section Tie Breaker Championship Game (Game #2). Loser of Game #1 will be the Section 3rd place team for the L-L League Playoffs.

 

  1. In the event of a tie between four (4) teams, the following criteria will be used to determine playoff format for the Section Champion:

 

  1. District 3 Power Rating

 

  1. Teams that are tied will be ranked (1-4) based on power rating. Highest power rating = 1, 2nd highest rating = 2, etc.
  2. Team 1 will face Team 4; Team 2 will face Team 3 (neutral sites)
    1. Winners will play for Section Championship (Section 1st & 2nd places).
    2. Proceed to II.A to determine Section 3rd

 

  1. Section Tiebreakers for 2nd & 3rd Place

 

  1. Should any ties exist with any teams other than first place (i.e. 2nd & 3rd place), the following criteria, in priority order, will be used:
  2. Head to Head Competition
  3. Record vs. Section Champion
  4. District 3 Power Rating
  5. Coin Flip
