Wyoming Seminary Wins Conference Opener Over Tunkhannock

Tunkhannock 37, Wyoming Seminary 51

by Phil T.

KINGSTON — After a tightly contested first half, Wyoming Seminary held Tunkhannock to 5 points in the 3rd quarter to help them win their WVC Division 2 opener.

Tunkhannock failed to make a 2 FG in the 1st quarter. The Tigers tried to establish an early lead by shooting behind the arc, but going for 2-7 in the 1st quarter (3-11 in the game) put them behind 10-14 and they would never lower the deficit.

After the halftime break, Wyoming Seminary began to pull away with 4 offensive rebounds and 8 second-chance points in the 3rd quarter which allowed them to outscore the Tigers, 15-5 in the period.

Seminary has a balanced offense and Tunkhannock couldn’t keep pace.  Aiden Murphy, Todd Phillips and Jeremy Callahan played the full 32 minutes for Wyoming Seminary.
