The list of their last few head coaches could just as easily be etched onto the L-L’s version of a coaching Mount Rushmore. Hard to argue considering how one, Danny Walck, sits 3rd on the league’s all-time coaching wins list currently while their last coach, Joe Klazas, just wrapped up a tenure that included 352 […]

Thanks to Coach Shultz at Country Day for the lowdown. Monday June 8 Solanco vs Manheim Township @ 6pm (Parent’s Fieldhouse) Linville Hill vs Ephrata @ 6pm (Buckwalter Gym) […]
If you would’ve seen their name appear on the statewide bracket as it did this year and your only point of reference to use was that of a history book and nothing else, you likely would’ve thought this was just another, ho-hum season for them. After all, their 22 state playoff appearances tops the list […]
Article by David Kehler This is the third in a series of tournament previews. The tourney brackets are posted and updated at piaa.org. The PIAA state championship tournament begins on Friday and concludes on Saturday, March 21. Champions will be crowned in six classifications which are largely enrollment based. Class 1A includes the smallest schools, […]
Beginning this weekend, the Lancaster-Lebanon League will send five of its boys’ basketball teams found within three of the state’s six classification systems into the state tournament that will get underway on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon respectively. With just five schools receiving a bid, that ties 2025, 2020, and 2015 for being the fewest […]
Listed below are the L-L teams that have reached the District 3 basketball tournament in each of the respective classes. Upcoming games beyond this initial list will be updated and accounted for on both the Scoreboard tab and each respective team’s pages. 6A #16 Manheim Township @ #1 Central Dauphin — 2/17 @ 7pm […]

Article by David Kehler Hempfield led wire-to-wire on Saturday afternoon to defeat visiting Lancaster Catholic 45-34, in a game that was more competitive than the final score suggests, in a Lancaster-Lebanon League playoff quarterfinal. Hempfield will play Lancaster Mennonite in the semifinal round on Tuesday at Conestoga Valley. Both Hempfield and Lancaster Catholic were deliberate […]

As we come down the final stretch of the regular season in the LL, there is still a lot to be determined in the final week of league play. Let’s take a look at where things stand before games tip on Thursday, January 29th. As always, views and opinions expressed in this column represent my […]
They were 6-9 coming into the night. They began the season with a 1-5 record overall. Have you been paying attention to them? If not, you probably should. They have one heckuva story to tell. Yes, while it is true that Lancaster Catholic was indeed a full three games under .500 coming into their Thursday […]
As I sat down to write about Coach Joe Klazas, I kept coming back to a quote from my good friend and former teammate Chris Markel. “He was and is a winner,” said Markel, a Class of 2009 standout guard, when asked to describe Coach Klazas. Chris is unequivocally right. Simply put, Klazas is […]
Coming into this season, it’d be fair to suggest that Lancaster Catholic was most certainly looking forward to the idea and overall promise that came part in parcel with a new year getting set to commence. And frankly, how could they not? As far as the record books will tell you, the Crusaders’ 2024-25 season […]
Sometimes, the best thing you can do right after suffering a tough loss is to get right back up and ride the horse again in next to no time at all. Of course, that can’t always be the case in every single instance. Especially not when the schedule dictates your fate as such. For the […]
Is it feasible to call a team that made it to the state playoffs in the 5A ranks a season ago a bit of a surprise just a couple of weeks into this brand-new season? Especially when they graduated all of four players off said team? If so, this 2024-25 Manheim Central Barons outfit might […]
