KINGSTON – Wyoming Seminary finished off an undefeated conference schedule with a 66-60 victory over their rival, Holy Redeemer Saturday night. The Blue Knights came into the game with a one game lead over the Royals.
In the first half, both teams were very streaky as the Blue Knights used an 8-0 run to take the lead and then saw the momentum shift as the Royals took the lead back with a 14-1 run. Sem would eventually regain the lead and head into the halftime break with a 35-29 advantage.
Coming out of the locker room, the Blue Knights would get hot from the behind the arc hitting four triples in the period, two by Jeremy Callahan. Wyoming Seminary would slip into foul trouble early in the second half, committing five team fouls in the first six minutes. The Royals’ offense found it hard to find consistency on the night as they would miss several high-percentage chances in the paint.
In the final period, Wyoming Seminary would extend their lead to double-digits as they rode that advantage to the win. Late triples by Justice Shoats and Matt Prociak would close the gap on the scoreboard.
Callahan was near-perfect from the charity stripe, going 11-13 in the game, and leading his team with 22 points.
Shoats would lead the Royals with 18 points, 11 coming in the 4th quarter.
Entering the night, both teams already secured spots in the Wyoming Valley Conference playoffs. Their opponents will be announced on Sunday as there is currently an unbelievable 4-way tie in Division 1.
Wyoming Seminary and Holy Redeemer also entered the night as the top two seeds in District 2 AAA which could lead to yet another face off down the road, with even more riding on the result.
