Questions
Why did you decide to start playing basketball?
I started playing basketball when I was in kindergarten in the Lancaster YMCA league. I moved to State College when I was in 1st grade and continued playing in the OLV church league and then in the State College YMCA league, until my Dad started a local travel team when I was in 4th grade. Growing up, I also played baseball, soccer, and ran track and cross country, but I stuck with basketball the longest because I found it to be the most fun sport to play. I also like the pace of the game compared to the other sports I’ve played and competed in.
What’s your favorite part of the game of basketball?
My favorite part of the game is competing hard, having fun playing, and winning. I love the feeling I get after winning a game. My least favorite part of the game is losing.
What NBA/College basketball player do you model your game after and why?
I don’t really model my game after a certain player. I watch players to learn things and try them myself. I’ve watched Steph Curry to learn how to get open when off the ball. I’ve watched Tyrese Maxey to see when he uses his off-foot layup. And I like watching TJ McConnell’s defense and the energy he brings to his team.
What’s your favorite moment from your high school basketball career up to this point?
My favorite moment was in my junior year when we beat L-S in the first round of the LL league playoffs. The energy on the court and in the gym was a great environment to play in. It was also amazing to see all the hard work we put in as a team pay off in the playoffs, especially because it was over 30 years since Penn Manor had won an LL league playoff game.
What are your goals for the upcoming 2024-2025 high school basketball season?
My team goals for this season are to win Section One in the LL league, make it to District playoffs again, and go as far as we can in the postseason. One of my individual goals this season is to become a 1,000 point scorer.
What are your plans for after high school?
My plan is to go to college to continue my academic and athletic career. I haven’t decided where I am going or what major I will choose.
