They’re breaking out the time machine at McCaskey. For just the 4th time since the inception of the L-L League (1972), and for the 13th time in the last 100 years overall, the McCaskey boys’ basketball program will have a new head man in charge once this season gets underway.
While the discussion regarding a Mount Rushmore of McCaskey basketball greats would most certainly be a spirited debate, the newly minted head coach of the program has as good a claim as any to be placed amongst the very best to wear the Tornado red all-time.
Welcome back, Dustin Salisbery.
In needing a new head coach this offseason, the leadership at JPM made a splash when it came to selecting Salisbery for the job, a proud native son, to try and lead the Tornado back to the postseason for the first time since 2019-20 as they look to recapture the same level of success as they enjoyed back in Salisbery’s playing days.
We had the chance to catch up with Coach Salisbery recently to discuss where and what he’s been up since his playing days at McCaskey, some of the greats he was coached by, the L word (legacy), how he and his family are adjusting to the move, along with his goals — both short and long — when it comes what McCaskey hoops looks like in the Salisbery era.
We thank coach for his time, candidness, and are excited to watch as his tenure now officially gets underway.
