Benne, Fisher earn PA Sportswriters all-state honors

Written by: Dell Jackson on April 24, 2024

Two Lancaster-Lebanon League players earned all-state honors from PA Sportswriters for their performance during the 2023-2024 season.

Penn Manor standout senior forward Ethan Benne caps off his outstanding high school basketball career with a spot on the Class 6A all-state second team. He becomes the first Comet to earn all-state honors since 1990. Benne led the L-L League in scoring during the 2023-2024 campaign by averaging 22.6 points per game while also hauling in eight rebounds per contest. He shot an efficient 54% from the field and 83% from the free throw line. Benne became just the sixth Penn Manor player to reach 1,000 career points and he finishes his prep career with 1,183 points. He will play college basketball at the NCAA Division II level at nearby Millersville University.

Cody Fisher has two years of high school basketball remaining but has already proven himself as a star for Lancaster Mennonite. The sophomore forward earned third-team all-state honors in Class 2A for his performance during the 2023-2024 season. Fisher averaged 16.3 points per game and made 65 three-pointers for the Blazers while shooting 46% from the field and 81% from the free throw line. Lancaster Mennonite won the PIAA District 3 title in Class 2A and advanced to the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
