On Thursday afternoon, two Lancaster-Lebanon League senior standouts, Cocalico’s Timmy Hambright and Lancaster Mennonite’s Chase Hurst, both bound for Lancaster Bible College to continue their playing careers, had their names revealed as members of the 2026 All-State High School Basketball Teams as selected by the Pennsylvania Sportswriters. Hambright garnered Second Team honors after receiving the 8th-most votes tabulated in 5A, while Hurst concluded his career by captaining the 3A Third Team respectively.

For Hambright, this marks the final honor in piecing together a sensational senior season that saw the now-departing Eagle vault up the career scoring list — moving from outside the top 20 prior to the start of the season before ultimately finishing in the third-place slot all-time in Cocalico history by the end of the year — following his 704 points tallied in his senior campaign alone, a mark which paced all L-L scorers in 2025-26 at 25.1 points-per-game, the 4th best posted within District 3 regardless of classification this year. In securing the statewide honor, Hambright also becomes just the second Cocalico Eagle to land All-State distinction while joining Kevin Crouse, a Second Team “Class B” selection in 1974 as chosen by the UPI.

Not to be outdone, Chase Hurst now firmly cements his legacy as the most decorated Lancaster Mennonite Blazer of all-time.

After beginning his career as a freshman on the 2023 state title team, coached by an All-State honoree himself during his own Mennonite playing days, Seth Buckwalter, Hurst’s Third Team selection to this year’s All-State squad now puts a period on his staggering four-year career which always featured nothing short of a league playoff appearance, a state playoff appearance, and a District 3 championship game appearance as well.  Beyond those ventures and the aforementioned state championship, Hurst’s teams at LMH also won three L-L Section Four titles, two District 3-2A titles, and the Lancaster-Lebanon League championship for the first-time ever in school history this past season. Individually, Hurst wraps up a scholastic career which sees him sit at or near the top of every key statistical category in Mennonite history, highlighted by 1,378 career points, third most scored all-time at LMH. In addition, Hurst also joins his older brother Camden, a three-time All-State honoree from 2021-23, in becoming the just the second pair of brothers to achieve All-State recognition in L-L League history (Jason and Martin Dietrich of Donegal in 2013).

With both players bound for Lancaster Bible College come the fall, this marks a significant local haul with added momentum for a Chargers’ program already coming off an NCCAA National Championship this past season. Now, with both Hambright and Hurst set to join the roster, Lancaster Bible College is slated to begin next year with four former L-L League players who were All-State selections during their high school careers when pairing them with Trey Grube and Cam Hurst respectively.
