Berks Catholic Drops Wilson 44-40 And Moves to 12-0

Berks Catholic moved down to Section 2 of the Berks League last year.  That has not stopped the Saints from testing themselves against Section 1 foes this season. Berks Catholic coming off a decisive win over Muhlenberg, faced off against another Section 1 powerhouse in Wilson Thursday night on the road.  The game was played almost entirely inside the three-point line on both ends. When the smoke cleared Berks Catholic handed the Bulldogs a 44-40 defeat.

The entire Saints offense flowed through the McKoy brothers.  Josh with 18 points and Kingston tallied 13.  Madyx Gruber led the way for Wilson with 15.

A cold shooting first quarter by both teams finished 12-11 in favor of Berks Catholic.  Neither team could muster any kind of offensive rhythm due some hardnosed defense by both squads.

The Wilson defense really came to play in quarter two.  Coupled with a Bulldog offense hitting stride, Wilson went into the break with a 24-21 edge on the Saints.

The athleticism of Berks Catholic came out in quarter three.  Specifically, the McKoy brothers The Mckoy’s were certainly real tonight and took control. After three though the Saints had a meager 33-30 lead.

Berks Catholic led by as many as eight in quarter four.  To Wilson’s credit the Bulldogs got it to only a 2 point advantage for BC late.  The Saints hung on for a 44-40 bragging rights win.  Berks Catholic remains the top ranked team in 4A in District 3.  Clearly these two teams are on a collision course for the Berks County Championship next month.
