(Reading) The names sure fit Friday night for the Big Spring Bulldogs.  In so many critical moments of this 4A District Three Quarterfinal road matchup vs Berks Catholic players came up BIG time.  This group of girls displayed grit, toughness and determination throughout the game like a group of Bulldogs.   And a stellar fourth quarter effort on both ends of the floor Sprung the Big Spring Bulldogs to a 38-33 District Three Quarterfinal road win over  Berks Catholic.  The victory earned Big Spring a shot at #1 seed Delone Catholic Wednesday in a District Semifinal.

In the BIG category of Bulldogs performances was that of Laney Noreika.  Laney led all scorers with 12 points and was a force on the boards all night.  Emilee Sullivan had 10 points and made some BIG free throws to ice the game.  Making  BIG threes in the second half was Aleya Eisenberg.  Mackenzie Gordos had 3 from beyond the arc to lead the Saints with 9.

Both teams came out very aggressive on defense.  BC ended the first quarter up 12-5.

The 2nd quarter was the best quarter of the game for Berks Catholic.  The Saints gradually pulled out to a 19-11 lead over Big Spring at halftime.

After a back and forth third quarter BC held a 28-22 lead over Big Spring

Big Spring immediately put the pressure on Berks Catholic in quarter four.  Using tough defense and hot shooting, the Bulldogs outscored BC 16-5 and came away with arguably one of the biggest girls basketball wins in Big Spring history.
