Written by: Bruce Badgley on March 10, 2021

(Mechanicsburg) It was not much of a contest when Cumberland Valley crushed Governor Mifflin early in the season.  But it was like that game never happened to the Governor Mifflin Coaches and players Tuesday night. Brimming with confidence, the Mustangs bolted into Cumberland Valleys gym for the District 3 6A semifinal. Governor Mifflin’s’ hot shooting carried over from their quarterfinal win in quarter one.  Down by as much as 13, Cumberland Valley came roaring back to lead at halftime.  After finishing tied after three quarters Cumberland Valley’s clutch free throw shooting down the stretch had the Eagles pulling away from the Mustangs for a 54-49 nail biting win in the District 3 6A semifinal . Cumberland Valley will host Central York for the District Three title Thursday night.

Abbie Miller had a stellar first half and led Cumberland Valley in scoring with 20.  Julie Jekot was money in quarter four scoring 12 of her 17 points in clutch time.  Anyah Ortiz finished with 18 for the Mustangs.

Governor Mifflin set the tone early with hot shooting in quarter one and led 17-11 after the first quarter.

You cannot hold a quality team like Cumberland Valley for long.  The Eagles inside game came to life in quarter two.  Cumberland Valley came back to lead at halftime 26-23.

The  third quarter  turned into a back a forth, hard nosed battle.  We were tied at 33 after three quarters.

Mifflin led with three minutes remaining, but clutch plays and free throw shooting in quarter four sends Cumberland Valley to the 6A District Three title game.
