(Laureldale) When a basketball team is without two of its better players you expect it will effect the team.  In the case of Muhlenberg, it seemed to be a rallying cry for “next man up.”  Friday night The Mules used the first half of its District Quarterfinal game with Cedar Cliff to develop its new chemistry.  In the second half,  Muhlenberg showed that this defending District champion is eying another title.  The Mules displayed every aspect of their game in blowing past Cedar Cliff 70-44.  The victory earned Muhlenberg a date in the District 3 semifinal with its old nemesis Reading High.

You expect Seniors to take leadership roles this time of year, and that is exactly what happened for the Mules on Friday.  Tracy White and Erron Archie put the team on their backs and scored 23 and 22 points respectively.   Tyler Houser paced Cedar Cliff with 14 points.

Despite a little bit of a slow start, Muhlenberg held a 20-16 advantage after quarter one.

Things remained close through most of the 2nd quarter.  Then, in true Muhlenberg style, the Mules raced off to a 15 point halftime advantage.

When Cedar Cliff pulled to within 13 of Muhlenberg, it only seemed to make them angry.  By the end of the third the lead was out to 23.

Muhlenberg played deliberately in quarter four and came away with the 70-44 win over Cedar Cliff.
