Written by: Bruce Badgley on February 27, 2021

Berks League boys basketball allure the last two years has been the knock down, drag out, up and down, no holds barred emotionally charged three time a year slugfests  between Wilson and Reading High.  You would have been mistaken expecting anything less when these two rivals locked horns once again Friday night for the BCIAA title.  There were no surprises. Each team just laced them up and let it rip. Wilson burst out of the blocks and held a 10 point halftime lead.  Reading High chipped away to tie the game going into quarter four.  Wilson had just a bit more down the stretch and came away with a 55-53 BCIAA Championship victory. Both teams will move on to the District Playoffs

Stevie Mitchell was Mr. Everything once again for the Bulldogs.  Stevie had 35 points and was the go to guy when everything was one the line.  Ruben Rodriguez made some key second half shots had 20 points to lead Reading High.

It was an up tempo start to the game that everyone expected  Wilson held the lead 14-8 after the first quarter.

Wilson the shoulders of Stevie Wilsons 13 2nd quarter points moved out to a 10 point lead at halftime.

There was no backing down for Reading High in quarter three.  The Red Knights kept chipping away and had the game tied entering the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was one to remember.  Reading held a 1 point lead with only 2:38 left But down the stretch Wilson had just enough to come away with a 55-53 win and a BCIAA Title.
