Berlin Brothersvalley 71 Lancaster Christian 53: PIAA 1A Boys Second round via Luke Brown

The competition for Berlin Brothersvalley is only going to continue to sharpen as play goes on, but tonight, they were able to breeze through a relatively painless second half at Cumberland Valley against Lancaster County Christian in the PIAA Boys 1A second round, 71-53, behind a 29 point outing from Pace Prosser and 25 more from Craig Jarvis. 

The first four minutes were back and forth between the two squads, trading long shots and both face paced offenses were yet to find their groove. When Berlin did find that groove is when things got serious, turning a four point lead into nine by the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the lead was 21 off a Prosser buzzer beater as time expired into halftime.

Berlin kept building and building upon that lead to 61-37 by the end of the third, then 71-53 in the end.

Pace Prosser let the ball fly all night long, with just under 30 points, and Craig Jarvis proved to be the three point specialist for Berlin, with six made threes and 25 total. Berlin had a total of 24 points off three point shots.

“I give their guys credit, they battled the whole way. We had a couple chances to get the clock running and go up 30, and they kept battling and fighting the whole way.”, said Tanner Prosser, the Berlin Brothersvalley head coach. “Credit to their coach, credit to their kids, I wasn’t happy how we executed late third quarter and fourth quarter, but I told our guys if you’re able to get to the spot and get to the elite eight, we’re happy that we’re moving on.”

Berlin Brothersvalley will move on to see another  Lancaster team on Friday in Lancaster Country Day, who defeated Phil-Mont Christian.
