Columbia 61 Lancaster Catholic 44
January 31, 2022

When both teams were in Section 4, and there were only 4 Sections, this game at times determined the Section 4 Champion. Things change. Columbia is now in Section 5- Lancaster Catholic has dominated Section 4  for a long long time. Columbia was coming off its first loss to highly regarded Executive Academy 69-61. Lancaster Catholic was also coming off a loss to highly regarded Bishop McDevitt – whose team is now at full strength after battling thru some covid issues. The Tide was amped up. They defended with purpose, turned the Crusaders over multiple times in the first half, pounded the offensive glass as Columbia ran out- yep ran out – to a 34-14 half time lead.

Lancaster Catholic would cut the lead to 18 at the start of the third, but the Tide would put together a 6-0 run (a Robert Footman three-ball, a foul shot by J’Von Collazo and a layup by Jordan Poole) to increase the margin to 24. Basically, at that point the game was over. Lancaster Catholic scored some late with the subs in for the final of 61-44.

Points
Columbia: Robert Footman 15, J’von Collazo 13
Lancaster Catholic: Nahjier Aikens 8 was high scorer.

Sidelines….Nice crowd tonight for the game…Columbia inflicted 13 turnovers on LCHS in the first half…Tide’s point HOV Glover turned his ankle in the second half but should be ok in the long run…Robert Footman had a very nice floor game and was a general on the floor at the defense end. …The game was non-league as both teams are in different sections…If LCHS gets into the districts, we may see this match-up again.
