Column Nov. 21

2021-22..After a very strange season  (masks, limited attendance, champs only for PIAA games), it looks like we will be back a full strength for a ‘normal’ year. Each school will be allowed its own masking requirement after Jan 17th. Most schools will be ‘open’ to all who want to attend.

Pre-season show…Andy and Dell will take on the task of going over the teams for the 2021-22 season the week before Thanksgiving. Send any questions to webmaster@llhoop.com

2021-22…LLhoops recap…We had a shortened season due to Mr. Covid. However, LLhoops was able to cover games. Stats include 75,000 unique viewers, over 350,000 page views, increased twitter following (Andy, Dell, Bruce, Jon K) total is approaching 10,000. For the third season in a row we provided live streaming of various games. Also, we covered the boys/girls finals – with over 5000 combined viewers. We also used zoom interviews for coaches in the LL and others.

1000 Point Club…As we continue to gather info on the 1000 point scorers, we will post them on the team pages. We have most completed -a few more to go. We have brother combos, father son combos, and some teams with 2-3 1000 point guys on the same team. The players before 1987 did not have the advantage of having a 3 point arc. Any players listed before 1973 did not play in the LL. Special thanks to the AD’s/Schools/Coaches that have a banner up in their gyms and shared that info with us.

Schedules…most are up on the main page of LLhoops.com. As always there will be several adjustments especially when it comes to tournaments. We do not have the ability to put tournament games for second night etc..however we will post a schedule page where everything will be updated 🙂 To access the teams pages with schedules, click the section tab on the main page, then find the team your looking for.

Rosters…We should be posting rosters soon. As soon as we get them, we’ll post them under the team page. Coaches, please send them as you give out your uniforms.

LLhoops live streaming….We are trying to get some teams on the schedule. Fingers crossed that all goes well with production this year. Our announcers (Warren Goodling and Eric Thomas) return for most of our games. We are trying to get a game of the week with at least one game per week. Some gyms are difficult for us to “get out” so we are a bit limited to what gyms we can use. Our first game is scheduled for Dec 16 with Manheim Central traveling to LS with a follow up game Dec 17 Etown at CV. We will record all the games, so if we have technical issues, we will be able to post the game via tape delay.

Sponsors…We cannot provide our services at no costs without sponsors.
We have several packages including team sponsorships, live streaming, sub page sponsorship, player of the game on live streaming. If interested in helping us, contact webmaster@llhoops.com.
Here is our list as of Nov 21: Grosh Legal, Hannah Speraw- State Farm, Pat Kline – State Farm, Dan Taylor Law, Hartz PT, Steve Lewis insurance, Homelight – home sales, Spooky Nook Basketball, Ephrata National Bank, Circle W Sports (sports web design), John Lichty accountant services, LL Refs, Sabel McKinnie- real estate, Buzgon Davis- legal.

New—maybe…We are looking to produce a weekly show featuring District 3 basketball. We will go over the power rankings, review some past games, pre view some up-coming games, and have interviews with coaches in various leagues. The show will be produced and hosted by Bruce Badgley. Bruce did a very popular similar show for District 3 football. So..in order to bring this show to our viewers, we need a sponsor. Originally we were thinking of a restaurant to do the show live on Wed. from 7-8. Sponsor would get logo on the show and lots of love during the show. The show will be taped as well and hosted on the LLhoops website. Due to travel restrictions, we are looking for restaurants in the Lancaster/Reading area. We could also produce the show in another location if we get different sponsors. If interested, please contact webmaster@llhoops.com or DM twitter @llhoops or @BadgleyBruce. We are looking at 10 shows, starting in January. Bruce’s football show averaged 400-500 viewers. It will take us some time to build up our veiwership, but we think this would be unique to the area.

And the old – should we say vintage? …Andy Herr (@AndyBrackets) returns. Andy prides himself on covering each team in the LL at least once. Dell (@llhoops) will be out and about with live stream productions, covering games using sound cloud, wraps, post game interviews, and various tweets during the games. Bruce Badgley (@BadgleyBruce) will provide some video of games he attends. He has his own place on LLhoops -Berks Beat. Bruce might be live streaming a few LL girls games this season as well. Jon K (@LLHoopsNEPbeat) continues his coverage of the the NEastern part of the state. He does a great job of getting scores and rankings of both the girls and boys. We are hoping to have some photos this season from Max and Mark22 (@Mark22Photos)

Student helpers…LLhoops is willing to post some info from student writers/photographers. We are also looking for a camera operator for some of our live stream games. Resume building? If interested, contact us Webmaster@llhoops.com

Shop—-need a different idea for a Christmas present? We have long sleeve Black t’s this year on our shop page.

In the works…We are working on a book “History of 50 Years of Boys Basketball for the LL”.
Various listings of teams, records, interviews, etc. Since this is the 50th year, the “book” will probably be released after the season. Stay tuned.

LL trivia…The LL has had 13 coaches with over 200 wins behind their name. Can you name them? S/O to Coach Matt Johns, TWP, for getting 11/13. We will release the names in the next column.

Tip off—Dec 10th. 🙂
