Lancaster Catholic built a double-digit lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back in a 64-37 win over Lancaster-Lebanon League rival Columbia Wednesday evening in the PIAA District 3 Class AAA girls basketball championship at the Giant Center in Hershey.

The Crusaders racked up seven offensive rebounds in the opening quarter and led 17-6 after the first frame.  LCHS led 33-15 at halftime before cruising in the second half to their second consecutive district title.

Senior guard Autumn Lipson came off the bench and connected on five three-pointers for the Crusaders. She finished the night with a game-high 17 points. Senior point guard and American University recruit Mary Bolesky played the most complete game of any player on the floor Wednesday night. She scored 11 points, hauled in eight rebounds, and dished out five assists. Senior guard Lily Lehman added 11 points and four assists while senior forward Rylee Kraft and junior guard Carleigh Anderson logged nine points and four rebounds apiece.

Columbia was led by the Droege twins. Brie scored a team-high 12 points, pulled in eight rebounds, and registered three steals. Brooke finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Both teams advance to the PIAA Class 3A state tournament. Lancaster Catholic will take on the No. 4 seed from District 12 in the first round while Columbia will face the No. 2 seed from District 4.
