Hempfield 65 Mannheim TWP 40
Dec. 21, 2022

“Share the ball… Take care of the ball…..Play defense and finish with a rebound.” Both Player of the Game, Ben Troyer 63” jn, and Head Hempfield Coach, Danny Walck, stated the obvious after the game. The Hempfield Knights checked off all the boxes as they rolled over TWP. Miguel Pena, 6’2” sn, led the Knights with multiple assists and very good on ball defense. The Knights keep improving and that will spell trouble for Section 1 and the rest of the LL.

The first quarter featured back and forth scoring. Both teams shot the ball very well- Hempfield had 5 different players tally points. TWP was led by Bennett Parmer, 61” jn, scoring in a variety of ways but most impressive is his post moves. Although undersized, he finds a way to post up and wiggle his way into the lane. Parmer scored the last 4 points of the quarter for the Streaks to give TWP a 16-15 lead at the end of 1.

The Knights ran off a 10-0 run to start the second period (3 by Micheal Hester, 2 foul shots by Troyer, a three ball by Micheal Reeker, and layup by Chris Calabretta). TWP finally stopped the bleeding via a post move by Landon Kennel (25-18 at the 3 min mark). The Knights ended the stanza on a 6-0 run to claim a 33-19 lead at the break.

More runs…more Defense. There was no doubt of the outcome of the game as Hempfield ran off another 8-0 run. A Pena three ball late in the quarter pushed the lead to 49-24.

Ben Troyer scores Hempfield’s first 6 points of the quarter. Hempfield cleared its bench with about 3 minutes to go. Final: 65-40.
