Cole Fisher, Lancaster Mennonite

How are you spending your time away from basketball?
“Right now, I’m doing homework, working on my skills, and getting stronger every day. I’m also focusing on my recruitment as well.”

Are your coaches staying in touch with the team even though your season is over?
“Yes, our coaches are great about communication and we are staying in touch. I am excited to start open gyms and summer league whenever we get back.”

How have you been staying active after all gyms closed due to the “Stay at Home” order?
“I follow an at-home workout every day and I also have a shooting workout that I do every day as well.”

Being a junior and college admissions/recruitment looming, how has the coronavirus affected your search
for schools?
“I honestly view it more as more time to send emails to colleges and develop relationships with coaches. Ive sent a lot of emails to local schools and other schools that are further away I am also interested in. It’s exciting to be able to talk to college coaches and try to see where I would fit best.”

How has your school been handling the pandemic?
“LMH has been handling it great. We have been doing flexible instruction online for three weeks now.”

What is your outlook for your upcoming senior season?
“I honestly am so pumped to play with the guys on the team again and really show what I’ve got. It’s my senior year, so I am especially focused on getting better and lifting my teammates up for a successful season.”

What is one piece of advice you have for the rest of the L-L League?
“During this time especially, I would say to not sit around. Nothing comes easily. Get better and encourage your teammates to also get better.”

Kai Cipalla, Warwick

How are you spending your time away from basketball?
“I am not really spending that much time away. I’m in the gym shooting and working on my game every day.”

Are your coaches staying in touch with the team even though your season is over?
“Yes, our coaches are still staying touch and always check in to make sure we are all doing okay.”

How have you been staying active after all gyms closed due to the “Stay at Home” order?
“Like I said, I’ve been working on my game every day including lifting and doing a variety of other activities to stay moving.”

Being a junior and with college admissions/recruitment looming, how has the coronavirus affected your search for schools?
“It has affected it, but not to a large extent. Obviously with this AAU season being postponed, it affects not getting to talk to colleges. It has also affected the chances to go on campuses and tour them. Other than that, I’ve been reaching out and staying in touch with coaches, as well.”

How has your school been handling the pandemic?
“Warwick has been handling it very well. We just started online instruction last Thursday. For teachers and students that I’m connected with, we definitely think it’s different, but it isn’t anything out of this world.”

What is your outlook for your upcoming senior season?
“As a team, I think our outlook will be achieving a third section title, a third appearance in the L-L
championship– this time getting a win–and then going deep into states.”

What is one piece of advice you have for the rest of the L-L League?
“The best advice I would give is to keep yourself active, stay in shape, and definitely keep your hands on whatever sport you play.”

Lance Lennon, Lancaster Country Day

How are you spending your time away from basketball?
“I’ve spent most of it just hanging out with my family. My sister is home from college and whenever we’re together it’s always fun.”

Are your coaches staying in touch with the team even though the season is over?
“Yes, Coach Shultz always reaches out and makes sure everyone is doing okay.”

How have you been staying active after gyms have closed due to the “Stay at Home” order?
“I have a hoop outside of my house, so I still go outside and shoot. When it’s too windy outside, I’ll do some pushups, calf raises, sit ups and all of that fun stuff.”

Being a junior and college admissions and recruitment looming, how has the coronavirus affected your
search for schools? Do you think the coronavirus will affect the recruitment process?
“It obviously didn’t help much, but I’m still following the same plan that I was before. I’ve been looking at all schools. I’m just trying to have as many options open as I possibly can. The virus probably will affect everyone’s recruitment, but I feel like there will be some way to make it up.”

How has your school been handling the pandemic?
“I feel like my school is handling it the best that they can. We are having a modified online schedule and it works pretty well. I personally love it. Even though it’s virtual, it’s still very engaging.”

What is your outlook on your upcoming senior season?
“I’m coming into the season with a completely different mindset. I feel like I was a bit overlooked this year. Maybe that’s because I didn’t play in the last few games, or maybe it’s because I just wasn’t where I needed to be as a player. Next season, I’ll be sure to make the decision a lot easier.”

What is one piece of advice you have for the rest of the L-L League ?
“Stay as prepared as you can because when the virus passes, you want to be in the best shape that you can possibly be in.”
