Plymouth-Whitemarsh Defeats Central Bucks East 68-40 for Suburban One League Championship

Plymouth-Whitemarsh led for the entire game against visiting Central Bucks East and cruised to a 68 to 40 victory in the Suburban One League championship game on Tuesday night. The mercy rule was triggered with 5:30 left in the fourth quarter.

Plymouth-Whitemarsh opened the game with a 9 to 1 run on a 3-pointer by 6’ junior Jaden Colzie, a jump shot by 6’ 1” junior Chase Coleman, a pull-up jumper by Coleman, and a jumper by Colzie. Central Bucks East was never in the game from that point. CB East is a team very reliant on outside shooting, but, in this game, they had difficulty finding the range, consistently missing attempts from beyond the arc. With their primary ball handler unavailable due to injury, CB East had ball security issues. Plymouth-Whitemarsh’s quick, strong, and athletic squad was very hard to stop, and they were able to build an insurmountable lead by the middle of the second quarter.

These teams are in the 6A PIAA classification, and both are very likely to qualify for the state championship tournament this season. Based on their performance in this game, Plymouth-Whitemarsh should be considered one of the leading contenders for the PIAA Class 6A state championship.

Plymouth-Whitemarsh out-rebounded CB East 29 to 25. Plymouth-Whitemarsh committed seven turnovers, while CB East had 15 miscues. P-W was eight of 13 from the free throw line, while Central Bucks East was 10 of 13. Plymouth-Whitemarsh made six 3-pointers, and CB West scored four times from behind the arc.

Plymouth-Whitemarsh scoring: Qudire Bennett 21, Jaden Colzie 16, Chase Coleman 15, Lincoln Sharpe 5, Jah Pendergrass-Sayles 5, Ben Marsico 2, Evan Ring 2, and Rodney Willis 2.

Central Bucks East scoring: Tyler Dandrea 11, Dhruv Mukund 9, Kyle Berndt 8, Nick Condo 3, Bryce Lolas 3, Jacob Cummiskey 2, Miles Demby 2, and Nolan Jacob 2.

Central Bucks East 6 8 13 13-40
Plymouth-Whitemarsh 14 17 22 15-68
