Trinity fans returned to a new and improved court at Trinity high school where the new and
improved Shamrocks took on their second game of the season, coming off of their season
opening win against Selinsgrove. Tuesday night, the focus for Trinity was on Lancaster
Mennonite. The Blazers are looking to build off of a District Championship season in 2022, and
came into Tuesday’s contest 1-1.

Early on, the teams were neck and neck. David Weaver, Lancaster Mennonite’s 6’7” foot center
created plays, and the Blazers’ had the game tied at 9 a piece with 3 minutes remaining in the
first quarter, but thats when Trinity really put their toot on the gas. The Shamrocks outscored
the Blazers 10-2 to finish the first quarter 19-11 Trinity.

There was a lot of talk surrounding a new look Trinity basketball team throughout the
pre-season. Two transfers, Adelphe Cisse and Mike Bednostin, had their first chance to
play in front of a home crowd Tuesday night, and the pair showed up for the Shamrocks. They
were both leading scorers in the affair, as Cisse tallied up 16 points and Bednostin contributed
15. Cisse got his points from mid-range and 3, with 2 three-point shots,4 two-pointers, and 2 made free throws. Bednostin struck it rich at the free-throw line, with 7 made free throws, as well as 4 Field Goals.

Two Shamrocks were sidelined and did not see the floor on Tuesday night. One was Owen
Schlager, a huge piece of last year’s team, and the other was Senior Cooper Manley. The
Blazers were also without a key piece of their team as Camden Hurst was out. Hurst has
been unstoppable for the Blazers, and a main reason why they lifted a District 3
championship trophy last season. Camden Hurst helped Lancaster Mennonite to a 56-33 win
over JP McCaskey on Saturday with 30+ points, but he is reportedly out for multiple weeks.
At the halftime break, the lead was 14 for the Shamrocks, but they were still within reach for the Blazers to catch up. The Blazers needed defense, and a lot of it, but it never came for the Blazers, as the powerful offense of Trinity – tonight led by Mike Bednostin – really came together for the Shamrock win.The Blazers only scored 13 in the second half, while Trinity added on 33 second half points to secure the 72-38 win.

The Shamrocks improve to 2-0 and visit Tunkhannock on Saturday. As
for Lancaster Mennonite, the Blazers fell to 1-2 with the loss. LMHS hosts Mount Calvary
Christian School this Thursday night.
