Lancaster Catholic 62 Lebanon 48
LL Girls Finals
February 15, 2024 @ Manheim TWP

The Lancaster Catholic Crusaders did not win the LL title last year. They were determined to win the tile this year. Mary Bolesky,5’4” senior spark plug for the Crusaders, stated “last year motivated us for this year.” The Crusaders featured a very balanced attack and collapsed on Lebanon’s Liliana Harrison, 6’3” junior center. Kailah Correa, 5”4”junior and Lebanon’s leading scorer, displayed her talent as she scored from distance and made some tough drives to the hoop- she scored 19 points in the contest.

The Cedars started out quickly – triples by Jaelyana Burrus and Correa gave the Cedars an early 6-2 at the 4:30 mark of the first. Lancaster Catholic tightened and held the Cedars to 2 points the rest of quarter number one. In the meantime, Catholic would unleash their top scorers (Rylee Kraft, Bolesky, and Stella Higgins) each netting buckets during the 11-2 run to claim a 13-8 lead after the first.

Bolesky popped 2 huge three-balls as the Crusaders pushed their lead out to 19-12. The Cedars would answer back – triple by Zariah Whigham and a Correa jumper. 19-17 with 4:40 left in quarter 2. Catholic would again end the quarter on another run. This time 10-3 featuring three-balls by Higgins and Autumn Lipson.
Halftime score: 29-20 Crusaders.

The Cedars made an adjustment at halftime as they started getting inside the paint vs. Catholic’s defense. The Cedars cut the lead down to 4 points off a three-ball by Correa (did I mention that she scores in a variety of ways?). As happened the first 2 quarters, Catholic would crank up their defense and limit the Cedars to a bucket last in the stanza. This time it would be a 12-2 run to end the third at 46-34.

Lebanon would cut the lead to 8 on a three-ball by Correa early in the 4th. Lancaster Catholic started to spread the floor on the offensive end. Because the Cedars were down, they needed to contest out front. Mary Bolesky would penetrate and dish to her teammates – Kraft and Higgins benefited from the dimes via Bolesky. Lebanon’s Correa fouled out with 2:30 on the clock. The Cedars just couldn’t cut into the lead. Final 62-48.
