West York Impressive In 57-50 Win Over Exeter Twp.

(York) District Three Tournament games between York-Adams and Berks League opponents always have a classic feel.  The lack of cross over play between the two leagues just cranks the anticipation and suspense way up in post season games.  That was certainly the case Thursday Night as Exeter Twp. traveled to West York for a District 3 5A Quarterfinal.  #2 seed West York (24- 2) playing at home was clearly the favorite against the “house money” Exter Twp Eagles (12-12). West York played the entire game like the higher seeded team.  The Bulldogs always seemed to be in the right place at the right time on both offense and defense.  West York’s mistake free basketball and money free throw shooting in the fourth quarter equaled a 57-50 District Three 5A   Quarterfinal win over Exeter Twp.

West York’s balanced offensive had four Bulldogs scoring in double figures.  Jaden Walker led the way with 12.  Exeter’s Colin Payne was the focus of the West York D all night but still managed 16 to pace the Eeagles in scoring.

West York put the pressure on Exeter from the opening tip.  Solid defense and hot shooting had the Bulldogs on top 17-8 after one quarter.

Exeter definitely picked up the intensity in quarter two. But West York matched the Eagles possession for possession and held a 29-21 lead at the break.

Exeter tightened things up in quarter three.  The Eagles got the lead down to 2 but West York’s cushion at the end of quarter three was 37-32.

West York met every Exeter challenge in quarter four.  Key free throws down the stretch sent Exeter home 57-50.    Shippensburg next up for the Bulldogs Monday Night in a quest for a District Title.
