Dallas Gets Victory as Emotions Heat Up

Dallas Mountaineers 68, Crestwood Comets 54

MOUNTAIN TOP – Deadlocked at the break, 26-26, Jack Farrell caught fire to start the 2nd half and helped Dallas win a key Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 rematch against Crestwood, 68-54.

Farrell scored the Mountaineers’ first 10 points of the third quarter, including a turn-around jumper that would give Dallas a decisive lead. Seniors Farrell (6’ 4”) and Luke Delgaudio (6’ 3”) provided enough height and strength in the paint to fluster Crestwood all night. And the Mounts found consistency from the foul line, converting 12 of 14 opportunities to help secure the win.

The Comets would cut the Dallas lead to four points twice in the final period, but could not get it any closer.

The closing minutes featured some heated emotions fueled by several rough fouls as players from both teams became frustrated.

Crestwood and Dallas (both at 6-3) need division leader Hazleton Area (8-1) to stumble down the stretch.  Both squads have the chance to meet in the February District 2 AAAAA playoffs.

The Mountaineers were led by Farrell with 18 points and Delgaudio with 17 points.

Ryan Petrosky led the Comets with 17 points.
