2024-2025 and 2025-2026 District 2 Basketball Classifications

Listed below are the District 2 schools that will be changing classifications for the next 2-year enrollment PIAA cycle.  Of note is that both Scranton and West Scranton will move up to 6A for both boys’ and girls’ programs.  The number of schools in both 3A classifications is decreasing while the number of teams  in both 2A and 4A will be increasing.  The Boys 4A group will include 12 teams and will potentially be the only classification in which teams do not qualify for the district playoffs (as all of the other classes will have 8 or fewer teams).  MMI Prep will be the only boys team in 1A.
