Lake-Lehman Lady Knights Cruise to Victory

Lake-Lehman 58, Wyoming Seminary 31

By Phil T.

KINGSTONClaire Dougherty and Sarah Salus exploded for a combined 30 points in the second half as Lake-Lehman completed the season sweep of Wyoming Seminary.

The Lady Knights would get off to a slow start as Sem grabbed an early lead, but propelled by four consecutive steals they would hold the Blue Knights scoreless for the rest of the quarter.  Lia Keefe was outstanding on defense in the first half before going down with a knee injury, but she would later return to start the second half.  Salus, Lake-Lehman’s leading scorer on the season, would register just one triple in the first half before her fortunes improved by scoring 14 points in the second half.

Early in the contest, Wyoming Seminary would have problems passing the ball and it led to many turnovers. The Blue Knights found success attacking the basket before halftime lowering the deficit to eight points.  However, after the break, Lake-Lehman would catch fire and Sem was never able to reduce the deficit to single digits.

Dougherty was dominant on the night, scoring a game-high 22 points for Lake-Lehman.

Ally Vezendy would lead Wyoming Seminary with 11 points in the loss.

With the win tonight. Lake-Lehman remains on a collision course with Holy Redeemer as they only trail the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 leader by a half-game.  The Lady Knights travel to Holy Redeemer on February 3rd to take on the Lady Royals.
