SCRANTON – The Scranton Prep Classics rolled past West Scranton to extend their undefeated record to 18-0 with a 57-32 win over the Lady Invaders.

Inside the Lackawanna College Student Union building, the Classics put on a dominant showing as they held West Side scoreless in the first quarter, opening up a 21-0 lead.

Angelina Moraca would finally get West Scranton on the board with a mid-range jumper to start the second period, but the damage had already been done.  Rachel Rose and Cecelia Collins were on fire in the first half, combining for 32 of Prep’s 40 points.

Nya Johnson had a strong effort in the loss.  Even though Scranton Prep had a defensive gameplan to contain the Lady Invaders’ top offensive threat, the senior guard would still find a way to drop 17 points.

In the second half, the Classics’ offense would slow down dramatically, but still maintained a 24+ point lead throughout the remainder of the game.  Collins (20 points) and Rose (22 points) would add a few more points in the 3rd quarter before heading to the bench for the rest of the evening.

With the loss West Scranton falls to 6-4 in Lackawanna League Division 1 play which eliminates them from the title race.

The championship is now down to Scranton Prep and Abington HeightsPrep hold a one game lead over the Lady Comets who also won tonight.  The Classics will entertain top rival Abington Heights on February 13th, the last game of the conference season.
