BOYS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Brandon Hall (6-5 junior forward) helped Wilkes-Barre Area put together their most complete game of the Wolfpack’s inaugural hoops season last Friday as he netted 17 points in their highly impressive 73-63 road win over Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 co-leader Hazleton Area.  The junior forward also scored 16 points earlier in the week, but the ‘Pack dropped a 41-40 loss as Crestwood rallied for the overtime victory.

Chris Mellon (6-4 senior forward) is a big reason why Lakeland is currently tied for first place in Lackawanna League Division 3 play.  Last Tuesday, he netted 18 points as the Chiefs held off Riverside for a 46-43 win.  Then, on Thursday, the senior forward contributed 19 points in another big win, 56-45 over Dunmore.

GIRLS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Nicole Silinskie (senior guard) had a pair of strong efforts for Wyoming Area as the Warriors climbed back to the .500 mark on the season.  She hit a dozen points as her team defeated Northwest Area, 47-30, last Monday.  Then, in a 56-37 victory over Hanover Area last Thursday, the senior guard added 16 points.  Over the two-game span, Silinskie connected on 7 triples.

Clair Marion (5-10 junior guard) has been one of several outstanding players for Abington Heights this season.  She scored 10 points as the Lady Comets defeated Western Wayne, 59-38, last Monday.  On Wednesday in a showdown against top rival Scranton Prep, Marion delivered 17 points, but her team came up short to the undefeated Classics, 61-53.  Then, on Friday night, the junior guard netted 17 points (with 3 treys) as the Lady Comets got a crossover victory over Honesdale, 65-41.
