BOYS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Jake Koretz (6-3 senior point guard) is leading the way for Wyoming Seminary and helped the Blue Knights jump out to an undefeated 4-0 start on the season.  He scored 20 points in a big Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 win over Holy Redeemer last Friday, 54-48.  He then netted 19 points in a commanding 68-19 victory over Wyoming Area on Tuesday.  On Wednesday night, the senior guard connected on 26 points in leading his team to an impressive 47-46 win over previously undefeated Wilkes-Barre Area, a 6A district front-runner.  Over the three wins, Koretz tallied 10 triples.

Cole Walker (6-4 senior forward) is a key contributor in a talented Wilkes-Barre Area lineup that has moved out to a 5-1 record.  The 4-year starter hit 25 points in a 54-48 win over Holy Redeemer.  In their Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 opener Friday night, he hit 24 points in a 52-48 victory over Tunkhannock.  The senior forward then contributed 13 points in their 65-23 win over Berwick on Tuesday.  Wednesday night, Walker was limited to 10 points as the Wolfpack dropped their first loss on the season, 47-46, at Wyoming Seminary.

GIRLS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Trinity Johnson (6-2 junior center) had a pair of solid efforts to help guide Wyoming Valley West to first place in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 play.  The junior scored 27 points as the Lady Spartans prevailed for an overtime 58-56 win over Berwick last Thursday.  Against Dallas, she hit 15 points in a 47-28 win on Monday.

Kylie Lavelle (6-1 junior guard) has been playing well for Riverside, one of the premier teams in the entire district.  She netted 23 points last Wednesday in a 54-43 win over Jim Thorpe, one of the top 4A teams in District 11.  She then hit 16 points as the Lady Vikings gained a 52-28 victory over another perennial District 11 contender, Allentown Central Catholic.  On Tuesday night, the standout junior connected on 30 points in a 70-28 win over North Pocono.
