Octorara 65 Donegal 60

The Octorara Braves won a hard fought game at Donegal, overcoming an 11 point deficit in the 4th quarter. Octorara is on a collision course with LS next Friday, assuming both teams take care of business. LLhoops will be live streaming that game.

Neither team could gain a lot of traction in the first period until late. Octorara would string an 8-0 run late in the first. The Braves dynamic duo of Zach Kirk, 6’ jn , and Elijah Hamilton, 6’5” led the late charge. A post move by Hamilton put the Braves up 18-11 late in the first period, but a jumper by Donegal’s Sawyer Floyd, 6’1” soph. pulled the Indians within 4 at 18-14 after one.

Octorara stretched it’s lead to 24-19 at the 5:04 mark of the second period. Kirk picked up his third foul near that point in the game. The Donegal Indians then made a run (7-0) to take a brief lead at 26-24. Kirk would pick up his forth via a T. The Indians took advantage by going on a mini run of 6-2 , the last on a follow by James Turbedsky, 6’2” jn. Hamilton made 2 fouls shots to end the scoring in the second period. 32 – 31 Donegal at the break.

Donegal ripped off a 7-0 run in the middle of the third, 2 buckets by Turbedsky sandwiched between a three ball by Evyan Patel, 6’1” jn. Donegal was up 45-42 . After a reverse lay-up by Hamilton, Turbedsky popped another three ball. The quarter ended after a layout by Dutch Good, 6’ sn. : 50-47 Donegal.

Donegal would push the lead in the forth on triples by Patel and Deandre White, 5’11” soph. , to 58-47. Octorara would answer with a three ball and a jumper by Kirk. Incredibly, the Donegal Indians would score their last basket and points with 4:50 left on the clock on a jumper by Good. Octorara would score the last 10 points of the game. A layup by Josh Bare would give the Braves its first lead of the fourth at 61-60 with 1:33 left in the game. Donegal would come top empty in their last few possessions. Kirk made 2 foul shots at the end of the game to cap off  a 65-60 W.

Aside: Zac Kirk would play the entire second half with 4 fouls.
