Warwick Girls Pull Away From Manheim Twp. In OT 36-26

The Girls / Boys doubleheader is really coming into fashion in District 3.  With the finish line of the regular season in sight, more and more schools are finding these double headers a fun way to get through a tough part of this season.  Thursday night at Township the Warwick and Blue Streak girls renewed the Rivalry 501.  A tough first half of action was followed by an intense second half battle.  Regulation was not enough to settle this one. Warwick  (4-4) made the plays and its free throws in the extra period to come away with an overtime 36-26 victory over Manheim Twp.(6-6).

Lady Warrior Lauren Pyle had a game high 13 points.  Gianna Smith, who hit a three pointer  to send the game to OT and Missy Welch each had 7 for Township.

Both teams had a difficult time scoring in the first quarter.  Warwick led 4-0 after one.

Both teams got into the flow of game in quarter two. Warwick’s defense kept  the Blue Streaks in check and held an 11-4 advantage  going into the half.

Quarter four had both teams ratcheting the defense way up.  The Blue Streaks Gianna Smith buried a three with under :10 to play to send us to OT

Warwick just was to good in the extra period.  Solid free throw shooting and timely baskets resulted in the 36-26 win.
