Around the LL….
Section 1…Hempfield defeated McCaskey this week, 62-59. Both teams are tied at the top of Section 1. Hempfield holds the first tie breaker with 2 wins vs McCaskey. Hempfield plays Cedar Crest to round out their Section 1 schedule. A win vs. Crest will give Hempfield the Section title, at least for the LL playoffs. McCaskey has completed it’s Section 1 schedule. All crossover games will count towards District 3 power points for the D3 tournament.

Section 2…With Warwick beating Lebanon 62-55, on Sat., the Lebanon Cedars and the Warwick Warriors both finished their Section 2 games. The first LL tie breaker is head to head (split). The second tie breaker for the LL tournament is District 3 power points. So….each game going down the stretch will be sooooo important to determine the Section 2 representative for the LL tournament. Stay tuned for a mathematical finish 🙂

Section 3…LS was paused for 2 weeks. The Pioneers will try to get their Section 3 games in to be part of the LL tournament. Currently, the Pioneers are one game back (more or less) of Cocalico. The Eagles defeated LS earlier in the month, with the rematch scheduled for Feb 18th at LS. LLhoops is scheduled to live stream this game.

Section 4…Lancaster Catholic clinched its playoff berth last week. The Purple and Gold are scheduling some games in order to prepare them for the LL’s and D3 playoffs. (Wilson last week).

Section 5…Columbia goes back-to-back as the Tide puts some hardware in the trophy case with its W vs. LMHS. The Tide will play Lancaster Catholic in the first round of the LL playoffs scheduled for Feb 23rd at Lancaster Catholic.

LL playoffs…We will post info HERE. Andy and Dell will be out and about covering the boys end of the LL’s. The finals are slated for TWP on Feb. 27th. The semis are to be held on Feb 23rd. Llhoops is working on broadcasting one of the games that night. We will be live streaming/archiving both the girls and boys games for the finals. We could use some sponsorship for the games- to help cover costs- if interested, please contact us webmaster@llhoops.com.

Looking ahead…basically we have 2 more weeks of games until the District 3 tournament begins. The D3 games will be played at the higher seeded team throughout the playoffs (no Hershey games this season). There will only be one team from each classification to advance to the PIAA games. As of now, the PIAA finals will be held at Hershey Giant Center. District 3 does an outstanding job of updated power rankings- Here is the LINK.

Many teams have scheduled games the week of the LL tournament (Feb 22-27).

LLhoops this and that…
We have been very busy trying to bring some live stream games to the fans. The games have been produced by Deron Gue, camera work by Dell, announcers Warren Goodling and Eric Thomas. Each gym presents its own logistically issues- from connecting to the internet, to power, to camera angles, to audio. This season we purchased our own equipment (sling studio) and have upgraded our technical gadgets as we have progressed throughput the season. With the idea of putting on some games, we wound up with over 10 games. Special thanks to our sponsors for allowing us to purchase equipment and produce the shows. Also, we would like to thank the schools/AD’s for taking care of us at the games. Here is a LINK to our 2021 archived games.

Website…we finally took care of the slowness of posting new information. Scores now appear very quickly. We use 2 different servers to put information out to our followers. Circle W Sports  (highly recommended for sports websites) keeps all our standings and teams pages (it’s only as good as what we put in.:)

LL Standings…have been adjusted to show only section games for the LL’s.

Passion….We know the LL is heating up as we get the usual “why don’t you cover XXXXXX more?” The thing is that usually, between Andy and Dell, we do get to see most teams. The focus going down the stretch has been to get to see the playoff contenders. With the live stream games, there is no “write-up”. We also noticed more banter in the crowd as the fans are heating up too 🙂 Finally, we opened up the chat section on the live stream games- helps us with tech issues and gives folks a chance to chat about the game.. Keep it clean so we can continue this service 🙂

Press Break…The numbers are all over the place, at least what we are seeing. The stats for each broadcast are up and down- we are thinking there might be something off with the counters. If you want a good laugh and some interesting stories, check out the last Press Break featuring the Gaffeys- Scott EPH and Mike B. McDevitt- Mike Gross LNP and Chris Sherwood , ex – Man Central head man.

Lots of games the next 2 weeks—lots of places to watch as well 🙂
