LLhoops.com and PIAA tournament…

We covered most of the games at the PIAA games in Hershey. Some wraps, some interviews, and some galleries. Mark22 had the photo of the weekend at the 6A game with 2 stars going up and a block. Great pict! Check out Mark’s galleries here. Links to our PIAA games can be found HERE. As always, a special thanks to Mike Gross, LNP, for keeping us company and providing us with some background on some of the players/teams.

Congrats to Manheim TWP for claiming the LL title –it’s first ever. The Streaks were on the verge of not making the

LL’s and the districts, but they put together a nice run at the end of the year. TWP beat Warwick in the LL finals and had to win a playback game vs. Cumberland Valley in order to qualify for the PIAA tournament for a second straight year.

The replay of the game (TWP/Warwick) can be found HERE.

The LLhoops history archived page is updated. This page has ALL the LL tournament games from 1973- 2019.

Streaming
Some good, some bad. …As seems to happen a lot when dealing with new technology, we fought thru some difficulties, some last minute cancelations, and some updating issues.

Our archived games can be found on llhoops.com utube page.

Special thanks goes out to Bruce Badgley, who helped us set up the streaming. Ed weaver of Circle W sports was instrumental in keeping the tech issues at a minimum. Also, thanks to host schools (Etown, Octorarra, Warwick, McCaskey. and TWP) for allowing us to try streaming out in the LL. Berks beat did many more games as well. Our announcers were off the charts: Warren Goodling, Eric Thomas, Bruce Badgley and Doug Kraft. Our broadcast of the LL finals got clipped a bit, and we used Dell’s phone for a hotspot to complete the broadcast J The LL finals was the first game to be live-streamed in the finals history.

We will try to do some streaming next season. The trick is the wifi setup and getting the hardware on location….and of course getting sponsors for our broadcasts.

LLhoops tshirts
We still have some for sale. Click here. $15/shirt includes the shipping. Currently we are out of XL, XXL, and small. We might make another run of XL and XXL in the future. Rumor has it that Andy might come up with a new design to compliment what we have in stock (stay tuned)

Site stats
Our site continues its upward trend. This past season we had over 305,000 page views. Our content keeps changing/updating. Previous columns/info can be searched from the main page. We had over 26,000 unique visitors to our site this season as well. Our twitter site is up to 2600 plus followers.

Brain P and Bruce Badgley provided some video clips of games this year.

Jon k performed many tasks (columns, scores, updates, and general info for both boys and girls) for the NEBeat.

Coach Warren Goodling provided us with some views from the bench this season. Coach gave us great insights from someone who’s been there and done that! His column was well read by our followers.

Andy Herr saw ALL the LL boy’s teams play at least one time. His game wraps are a thing of beauty as one gets a feel for the game that he was covering.

Coming up
LLhoops staff is included in the selection of the ALL State players. We will be posting the list as soon as we are allowed to do so. Covering the PIAA games at Hershey certainly helps to put the levels in perspective and make informed decisions on our voting. Mike Bullock has been giving us the top teams all season. He is also doing one more All State team. For further information on how the teams are selected by Mike Bullock, click here.

Andy will continue to get his hoops fix this summer by checking out various games. Dell will try to get some online interviews posted in the “off-season”.

We will try to get some off season interviews with some LL coaches – soundcloud and print.

We are looking to include LL girls next season. We need someone to enter some scores, cover some games and update standings. The pay ain’t great, but we can get you a staff shirt and a media pass 🙂

Finally, we will be including an all decade team (2010-2019) at some point before next season. As usual, we will probably miss some deserving players…so if that’s the case, please contact us and give us some background for consideration. We will be asking some coaches and media for input. Playing in college helps the case, but it’s not a deal breaker. Probably unveil before next season as it will give us time to consider players of the decade.

Ending with…
Thanks to all who have helped make LLhoops.com grow and improve throughout the years. It’s always fun to meet the folks behind the twitter handles and supportive parents. …and of course, we get to talk with coaches and players throughout the year.

Next year will be year number 20!

~Dell Jackson
